Lithium-ion batteries have been under the microscope ever since the Federal Aviation Administration ran a series of tests and then issued a warning that these batteries pose a risk. Due to this safety assessment, the rules for shipping lithium-ion and lithium-metal batteries have changed, these rules also apply when shipping a single item which contains a lithium-ion rechargable battery.
